Just finished a new painting I have titled "Safe Passage", based on a scene I witnessed in September. I was taking a hike through the Maroon Bells Wilderness here in Colorado, and I happened upon a doe and her fawn silently moving through the forest, with the sunlit aspens behind lit up like a stained glass window. I felt honored to be there, and to be tolerated by these beautiful creatures. I have never attempted to paint an animal before, but I had to put this on canvas, if only to put myself back in that sacred space again.
